HDMI connectors
There are two types of HDMI connectors:
● Type A connector (Figure 16.14) carries only a single TMDS link and is therefore only permitted to carry signals up to 165 Mpixels/s.
● Type B connector (Figure 16.15) with the dual-link capability which supports signals greater than 165Mpixels/s.
The pin assignment for HDMI connectors types A and B are listed in Tables 16.2 and 16.3. Computability with DVI is essential and this is out- lined in Appendix 6.
Modern IC design employs such high degree of integration that most of the functions of the video processing and formatting can be carried out within two or even one single chip. The following are some examples used by some TV manufacturers.
