Single-frequency network
Apart from improving the quality of reception of DTTV, the high tolerance to fading and multipath interference has an added advantage. It allows broadcasting authorities to use a single-frequency network (SFN) through- out the country. A signal from an adjacent transmitter broadcasting an Digital multiplex Analogue channel
identical signal will cause ghosting in analogue TV transmission. In digital terrestrial broadcasting, these signals are indistinguishable from reflected waves, and are therefore treated accordingly. They enhance the direct path signals and improve reception.
