TROUBLESHOOTING
The use of modular, solid-state electronics and built-in diagnostic testing reduces the amount of trouble analysis that must be performed in order to isolate malfunctions. Many malfunction conditions will be diagnosed by the system, and an error message will be displayed to tell the service technician what component has failed. In some cases, however, it will be necessary to isolate the fault by using standard troubleshooting methods, supported by the built-in test capability.
The troubleshooting diagram at the front of the unit’s manual contains most of the information needed to troubleshoot the TOTALCLAIM system. The flow diagram provides a good starting point if you have no idea what the problem is. If you have an error message on the display panel, you should go directly to the errors-and-alarms table and perform the indicated action or troubleshoot the failed component.
A test mode is provided as an aid in troubleshooting the relay/solenoid-valve logic. This approach is dis- cussed in detail in the manual that is available on the Internet. For more information on this unit contact Carrier at www.carrier.com.
