Installing Damper Motors
The location of a damper motor will be determined by the design of the ductwork. If possible, the motor should be easily accessible for
servicing and maintenance. The following suggestions should be considered when seeking a location for a duct motor:
• The ambient temperature must be within the ratings of the motor being installed.
• A motor should not be installed where corrosive vapors or sprays, or other contaminants, may present a problem to motor operation. It is especially necessary to prevent dust or dirt from getting on the feedback potentiometer.
• The linkage between the motor and the damper must be free to operate without binding on pipes or other obstructions.
• The motor must be installed so that it is free to run from one end of its stroke to the other.
Table • Honeywell modutrol motors must be mounted with the shaft in a horizontal position.
• A remote balancing relay mounted on a firm support must be used if motor location is subject to severe vibration.
• Weatherproof motors should be used when the unit is located in a position exposed to the elements.
