COMPRESSOR REPLACEMENT

Replacement compressor packages are listed by the manufacturer. Check with the refrigerator manufacturer to be sure you have the proper replacement, Refer to the compressor number in the refrigerator un- der repair. Compare that number to the suggested replacement number. Replacement compressors are charged with oil and a holding charge of nitrogen. A replacement filter drier is packaged with each replacement compressor. It must be installed with the compressor. The A-line replacement compressor is used on KelvinatorĀ® chest or upright freezers.

The new relay-overload protector assembly supplied with the N-line replacement compressor should al- ways be used. The new motor overload protector supplied with the A-line replacement compressor should always be used. Transfer the relay, the relay cover, and the cover clamp from the original compressor to the replacement compressor. If a relatively small quantity of refrigerant is used, a major portion of it will be absorbed by the oil in the compressor when the refrigerator has been inoperative for a considerable length of time. When opening the system, use care to prevent oil from blowing out with the refrigerant.
